Earth Day - April 22nd
We’ve talked about it, and it’s finally here! This week, we celebrate Earth Week. Thursday, April 22 marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day! It’s a day that has the power to spark long-lasting commitments to improving our daily lives, our communities and of course, the Earth!
Now, more than ever, companies are taking steps to show their commitment to a cleaner earth. Yesterday, Target stores, in partnership with Tide, GE and Coca-Cola, gave away 1.5 million reusable shopping bags to customers. The bags are made out of recycled plastic bottles.
Why not promote your company through products that also communicate your commitment to a cleaner, greener earth?
We offer a great line of cost effective eco-friendly promotional items. Check out our green products including pens and pencils made from recycled newspapers, denim, currency and even tires! Click here to view our entire line of green products.
Fun Facts:
• April 22 is the first official day of spring in the Northern hemisphere and of fall in the Southern hemisphere and was chosen to be Earth Day for this reason.
• Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to watch a TV for three hours – it’s equivalent to half a gallon of gasoline.
• Never underestimate the importance of recycling: if every newspaper was recycled, we could save about 250,000,000 trees each year. Unfortunately, only 27% of all American newspapers are recycled.
• More than 20,000,000 Hershey’s Kisses are wrapped each day, using 133 square miles of aluminum foil. Most people don’t realize that foil is recyclable.
• A highlight of the annual Earth Day ceremony at the United Nations is the ringing of the Peace Bell that was given to the UN by Japan. It is made from coins given by school children to further peace on our planet.
